On problem 51 you break 3.6 x 3 in the numerator out into 9 + 1.8? I assume you are doing 3 x 3 and 0.6 x 3 to get 9 + 1.8.
That is absolutely correct. It isn’t the only approach. I could make it 4 x 3 = 12 and note that 3.6 is 0.4 or 10% less than 4 so the answer must be 10% less than 12 which is 12 – 1.2 = 10.8. Break it up in the easiest way for you. Practicing will help you work faster and look at calculations perhaps a little differently.
