Why the HSPT Matters

The Gateway to America’s Top Catholic High Schools

The HSPT (High School Placement Test) is the primary admissions exam for Catholic and parochial high schools across the United States. Designed by Scholastic Testing Service (STS), it influences not just admission but also curriculum placement and — critically — scholarship awards that can be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

298
total questions across 5 sections — all multiple choice
No penalty for wrong answers — always guess. Every question is equally weighted. Pacing is the biggest challenge.
~2.5hrs
total exam time including short breaks between sections
Approximately 16 seconds per question in Verbal. Speed and accuracy under pressure are essential skills to train.
200–800
composite score scale — top schools seek 90th percentile+
Scores also determine scholarship eligibility — from 80th to 99th percentile. HSPT scores can be worth $32,000+ in awards.

Our Philosophy

We Teach for Life — Not Just for the Test

The HSPT rewards genuine reasoning — especially in Verbal and Quantitative Skills. Our Socratic approach builds the critical thinking that earns high percentiles and unlocks scholarship money.

🧠

Questions, Not Answers

The HSPT’s Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative sections reward students who think logically, not those who memorize tricks. Our Socratic method develops exactly this skill — asking the right questions until reasoning becomes instinctive.

🕑

Speed & Pacing Under Pressure

Verbal Skills gives students just 16 seconds per question. The entire test is a pacing challenge. We train students under timed conditions from day one so the real test feels familiar — not frantic.

📈

Scholarship-Focused Instruction

The HSPT uniquely affects scholarship eligibility — often worth $20,000–$32,000 over four years. We target the specific percentile bands that unlock each scholarship tier at your student’s target school.

🏗

Expert Instructors

Our online platform brings the best HSPT instructors to your student regardless of location. We recruit instructors who know exactly what each diocese and school looks for — and how to get your student there.

What Parents Are Saying

My son was scoring in the 72nd percentile on practice tests. After two months of prep he hit the 94th percentile on test day and received a $6,000/year scholarship. The pacing drills they use in every session completely changed how he approached the Verbal section.

★★★★★

We started prep in July and the HSPT was in December. My daughter found Quantitative Skills nearly impossible at first. By September she was flying through it. She scored in the 91st percentile overall. For $400 a month this is extraordinary value compared to what local tutoring centers charge.
